Several months ago I got an English assignment to write a book review. I thought that would be nice to share it too in this blog. Hope this help us to learn English and enlarge our vocabularies!

FIRST BOOK
Title : Phoenix, The Magical Fire Bird

The book is about :
Once upon a time, there was a Phoenix "The Fire Bird" known as Bennu in Egypt. Bennu was portrayed to have red-gold feather that would appear like flames. It could turn into a real flames when he was attacked by an enemy. At the time of King Pharaoh, the Egyptians considered Bennu as a magical and sacred fire bird. The also believed Bennu could live up to 500 or even 1461 years. The ancient Egyptians always put Bennu's painting inside their house as a symbol of worshiping the God of Ra. There was an unique power of Bennu that revealed again. It burnt itself into ashes after enjoyed a long life. Then, born a young and more magical phoenix. It made Bennu become more respected by ancient Egyptians, Persian, and Greece. They believed that Phoenix was the emblem of the human sacred life after death.
One day, Rajawali came and tried to challenge Bennu. Rajawali said it was nonsense that Phoenix was the incarnation of the God Ra, that humans worshiped. But Bennu just ignored his insult. Since Bennu still stayed and said nothing, Rajawali thought that Bennu scared and flew around Bennu arrogantly. Rajawali kept mocking and pounced Bennu's head. But poor, Rajawali went burnt and became ashes. Bennu was being compassionate, so he revived Rajawali again. From that moment, Rajawali and all kinds of birds respected Bennu. Bennu showed, they would rise again and live in a noble way after death, but of course you must do good and care to the others.

SECOND BOOK

The book is about :
Ash with his two bestfriends, Misty and Brock, started their adventure again in Vermillion City, then boarded S.S. Anne, a big famous ship that filled by many trainers. They were followed by Team Rocket and as usual, that team wanted to trick the pokemon trainers and captured a lot of pokemons. At the halfway journey, Team Rocket attacked the passenggers. Ash, Misty, and Brock brought on their pokemons to fight them. Team Rocket lost and flew up high but still fell in the another part of the ship.
Suddenly, a giant wave rocked the ship and storms raged above it. The ship's captain and crews were loading the passenggers onto the lofeboats. But Ash and his friends couldn't be find out by them, because they were trapped, and also Team Rocket. S.S. ANne was sinking, covered with water! Luckily, Misty knew the structure of the ship and then led the others to escape. She also used water pokemon to help them swam to the surface. They survived.
How about Team Rocket? They wanted to follow them but their water pokemon, Magikarp, couldn't do anything. So they struggled each other. But suddenly, Magikarp began to glow and the light exploded in a brilliant flash, it evolved to Gyarados! Gyarados was making a water cyclone and spiraling all of them. Then, Ash and his friends were separated from their pokemon, and also Team Rocket. So there were 3 groups that walking around in the different part of an island.
They were looking each other all day. But as soon as the sun went down, things got crazy. So many giant pokemon attacked them and it made they were stressed out. Finally, Ash, Misty, and Brock fell down from the bridge and landed in Team Rocket's cart while they were escaping from giant digimon. Fortunately, Ash's pokemons and them other-normal-sized pokemons were running toward to them. They met! In the end, they landed in a small lagoon, and there was a small boat floated. A tour guide just said and smiled, she was welcoming that they were in a Pokemon Land Theme Parks. All giant pokemons were mechanical. Ash and his friends so happy, and Team Rocket just ran away like usual.
THIRD BOOK
Author : Ruth Stiles Gannett
Short background of author :
Ruth Stiles Gannett wrote "My Father's Dragon" just a few years after her graduation from Vassar College in 1944. It was an immediate success, becoming a Newbery Honor Book, and was soon followed by two sequels, "Elmer and the Dragon" and "The Dragons of Blueland". All the dragons stories have been continuously in print in the more than 40 years since their publication. She is married to the artist and calligrapher Peter Kahn. They have 7 daughters.

The book is about :
Elmer Elevator, who was nine years old, had just rescued a gentle baby dragon from Wild Island. It took 10 days for Elmer to rescue him. So for thanked to that boy, the baby dragon decided to fly him head back toward Elmer's home. They were resting in Tangerina Island. And then they flew over the ocean at night. Poorly, a howling storm hit them and they were forced down into the water. Luckily, they ended up on a sand bar.
In the morning, they spot an island close by and made their way toward ir. There, they met a little yellow canary named Flute. Flute told them that the island which called by Feather Island was suffering of disease of curiousity. The King was the cause of the problem. For ten generations, they had a secret but they didn't try to solve it. Then, Elmer declared to help The King, The King Can XI.
The King agreed. Finally he told the secret, somenting was buried under a big tree near his place and thought it was a treasure, but he couldn't find out without human's help. Elmer started to dig with the dragon. They dug for 6 hours. At last they found a chest wih a note, "This chest was left here by Oliver Hinckle, for the purpose of helping him and his friends to settle on this island when he returns. In the event that he doesn't return to find the chest himself, the chest becomes the property of whoever dicovers it."
The last part of the secret, the King Can XI said that King Can I, stole the key from the settlers before. Then he opened it. They were surprised. It filled by cooking utensils and so many golds. All the birds clapped their wings and thanked to Elmer, also the baby dragon. The King gave Elmer 3 bags of gold and a silver harmonica, and gave a dragon a gold watch and chain. After that, Elmer and the dragon finished their adventure, they flew high to Elmer's home. They arrived. Before separated, the dragon gave its watch and chain to Elmer as its aprreciation then the dragon flew to find his family in Blueland.
Elmer arrived home. His parents were so surprises and so glad that he was coming home. They were so worried that for almost 2 weeks Elmer wents out. As surprise for Elmer's father's birthday, Elmer gave his father 3 bags of gold and also gave her mother a gold watch and chain. With the silver harmonica, Elmer played "Happy Birthday" for celebrate.
